In practice

Different Prizm versions are designed for different activities and lighting conditions.

Prizm does not necessarily mean Polarized. When the two technologies are combined, the label reads Prizm Polarized.

A polarizing filter reduces the uncomfortable glare of light reflected from surfaces such as water or the road.

In practice

It gives more comfortable vision in bright, reflective surroundings, with better contrast and clarity.

Adapts to light

Lenses that adapt to the light.

Photochromic lenses change how dark they are depending on the light. They usually darken under UV light and clear as it fades.

In practice

The range of darkness and the speed of change depend on the lens type and the temperature. Not all photochromic lenses become fully clear.

In a car, activation differs by technology, because the windscreen filters out much of the UV light.
